Workmen or The Victim

India is the country where most of the employers are practicing “Policing theory of Labour Welfare” and some time we see practices based on the theory of Ricardo “The subsistence Theory of Wage.

Sometimes people get used to or sometimes agitated. The number of persons who stand against exploitation always remains low in comparison to other used to. In the economic condition where people are barely earning their livelihood it would be ridicules to expect strong initiative from employees.

Now the question comes who is there to serve against exploitation

1. Government  2. Employer  3.Trade Unions 4. Employee itself

I believe trade unions are not strong enough to fight with. As the number of membership fall below average in comparison to other developed or developing countries i.e. India 10% France 10% Holland 25% England 44%, US 16%, Japan 25%, Sweden 91 %, Denmark 87% Norway 63%.

Among 10% membership one can see only class 4 and 3 are the member of Unions. Other than Class 4 and 3 don’t bother to be the part of Trade Unions.

And now comes to Unions, smalls unions don’t have system of membership fee, How long Will they Run? So they have adopted the system of taking % of amount in order to support workmen against any dispute settlement. The workmen being week in bargaining position don’t have any alternative but to pay % (as decided by the respective union) for any kind of dispute settlement. That’s how the disputes become the way of earning for unions rather than social effort to justice.

Employers they are always strive to collect wealth, no matter on the cost of others welfare. Some sick practices of the employers may be seen in form of: Splitting minimum wages, manipulating payments/Reimbursement, tempering with the welfare measures, malpractices at the time of separation.

They do as they know the loop holes in laws whereas for workmen law is too complex to understand (Still Indian Law makers believes that everybody know laws).

Government passes bills and Law without considering public life. As per an example in Haryana Minimum wage for skilled worker is close to 5000 K. If we make a simple assumption on normal expenditure, 2 K for Room Rent, 800 For Transportation, 200 for Incidental Expanses, 2 K for food for single person. Now think what the critatia while setting minimum wage was. Government should conduct proper research, if still it says the research is filne than there it would be a question mark on the performance of Government officials.

Government says that the person who is spending 32 Rs in a day is not poor. I wish to give them 3 times of the amount and would like to learn the way how they utilize the Money.”
